FAQ

A: Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged! Making an appointment will guarantee you a dressing room for your selected time slot, which is helpful on busy days when you may not have time to wait. It will also allow our stylists to pre-select some beautiful options for you to try. You will have a dedicated stylist working one-on-one with you for your entire appointment.

A: We encourage you to bring no more than 2 people to your appointment. Our boutique space is intimate and best with a limited number of outside guests accompanying. Make sure that key decision makers are part of your appointment, or have them available to look at photos or FaceTime. If you would like to bring a large group to your appointment, we encourage you to inquire about an after-hours private appointment.

A: You will be greeted by your stylist, who will show you some pre-selected options as well as walk with you through our collection to see what else you would like to try. Once you have 4 or 5 choices that interest you, you’ll begin the try-on process. Our stylists will lace or zip you into each dress, and will work with you to pull additional options as we hone in on the perfect look. We will have light refreshments available as well.

A: Please wear appropriate bottom undergarments to your appointment. Many dresses come with a built in bra, so an additional bra is not necessary, but you may choose to wear a well-fitting bra (not a sports bra) depending on the style. If you plan to wear shapewear, you may choose to bring that as well.

A: We do not offer refunds, returns or exchanges on formalwear. We hope that you love your dress and feel committed to your purchase. We inspect all dresses and all special orders for damages upon arrival, but recognize that mistakes happen. However, once dresses leave our doors, we will not be held responsible for damages.

A: We do not hold dresses and cannot guarantee the future availability of dresses in stock.

A: We do not handle alterations on site, but we recommend alterations experts within the area. Our stylists may recommend alterations that they feel are feasible, but each tailor may take a slightly different approach. Betty & Jane will not be held responsible for unexpected alterations costs, or for any errors made by a third-party alterations expert unaffiliated with Betty & Jane.

A: Yes! We register dresses to events, including individual schools’ prom and homecoming, weddings, local galas and other events where multiple attendees will be shopping at Betty & Jane. We guarantee we will not sell the same dress in the same or a similar color to the same event (i.e., the same dress in black and navy). We reserve the right to sell the same dress in a different color to the same event per our discretion. We cannot guarantee that the same dress cannot be purchased from another store.

A: Our hope is that you will fall in love with a dress currently in the store, but we understand that sometimes another size or color may be needed. If that is the case, our staff will view real-time inventory directly from the designer and place a custom order just for you.

Most dresses will ship from the designer within one business day, but we will let you know about exceptions and pre-orders as necessary to make sure you have your dress before the wear date. We recommend ordering no later than one month out to make sure that you leave enough time for any needed alterations.

Our stylists will make recommendations on the needed dress size, but the size you choose to order is ultimately your choice. Custom orders require a 50% deposit, with the other 50% to be paid when the dress arrives. If for some reason the dress is incorrect upon arrival, Betty & Jane will rectify the mistake.

Special orders may not be cancelled in the case of change of mind or change of event.

A: We offer layaway on a case by case basis as necessary. Payments must be made every 30 days, with no less than 25% of the total purchase amount per payment.

A: Formal gowns range in price from $350 to $1,200. Prom dresses range from $350 to $900. We are happy to work within a set budget, just please let us know in your appointment notes.

A: We carry sizes 0-24 in store, and we can order up to a size 30 depending on the brand. If you think you will need an additional size ordered, please make your appointment with at least a month’s lead time to order your dress and make necessary alterations.

A: We are not responsible for any damages incurred after your dress leaves the shop. Please inspect all items before purchasing. Customers may be held responsible for damages incurred during try-ons due to neglect or poor care of items. Please do not try to try on items that are too small, leave dresses on the floor, or otherwise poorly treat the dresses. Damages may also incur from body odors or heavy perfumes that linger on fabric.
